If you’re like us, the excitement of chunky sweaters and fuzzy footwear has long worn off. Get the jump on Spring 23’s 10 best trends: renewed classics, elevated basics, pops of color, bold accessories and a few surprises.
1. Florals
Florals are spring’s perennial number one trend, so it’s not a matter of if they are back but how. This year, we love the variety from subtle, small prints to big and bold statement-makers.
2. Baggy Denim
We are definitely not mad about the baggy jean thing. Goodbye squeezing into skinnies, hello wide-legged chill. Opt for a favorite baggy pair over your dingy sweatpants when you wake up and be judged no more at the coffee shop. Distressed, cuffed, hemmed—we’ll take this trend in any form we can get it.
3. Menswear
Sharp tailoring, clean lines and a slightly oversized fit are Spring’s antidote to office drab. Keep the look feminine with softer fabrics, shorter hemlines, and accessories. If you’re feeling edgy, lean into the masculinity by pairing a blazer with matching trousers, or keeping the colors in your outfit more muted.
4. Black & White Minimalism
Another of Spring’s easy trends to style: Pair a soft leather white bag with a sharp-shouldered balck blouse and jacket and a straight leg white pant for a fashion-forward, black and white minimalism magic. The best part, reverse the black and white combo and it still works. Really hard to go wrong on this one.
5. Drop-Waist Bubble Hem Skirts and Dresses
A revival of a classic 80s prom go-to. The dropped waist silhouette instantly adds an effortless chic to an outfit especially when paired with an oversized bomber, blazer or sweater allowing the volume to puff out beneath.
6. Low Rise Pants
Lean into the Y2K vibe with sparkly embellishments, heavy distressing and a waist so low there’s no waistband. OR modernize this nostalgic style with a darker wash and keep it baggy (see above).
7. Sheer
Don’t fear the sheer: Layer a bralette under a sheer blouse and pair it with a mini skirt for a smidge of sexy. Now, wear that same bralette on top of the blouse, and swap out your mini skirt for a pair of tailored trousers for a preppy look. If you want a change this spring to shake you from a style rut, sheer might just be the solution.
8. Ballet Core
This spring trend just might be our favorite: The strength of femininity, the power of soft fabrics and neutral tones. It’s easy to wear and lies somewhere between on-trend and classic. And it’s all about comfort: leg warmers, soft cardis, sweater sleeves and of course. ballet flats.
9. Conversational Clutches
Here’s a little secret: When your social battery is drained and you really just aren’t feeling it style-wise. Put on your comfiest jeans and a hoodie or sweater and grab the brightest, cutest bag you own. Any of these will work. Experiment with color blocking, unusual fabrics, mixed metals, and unexpected silhouettes and let your bag do the talking.
10. Fringe
Fringe 2.0 shakes off its cliche festival-wear vibe and gets more modern with styles that range from glamorous, elegant beading to cozy, deconstructed unraveling. Here are our favorites.
