When it comes to our day to day lives, we usually end up wearing more than one color. What if I told you, that some outfits stand out above others because of the choice to make all pieces the same color. The key to pulling off a monochromatic outfit is to have fun and experiment with different shades and textures. We’ve put together a few monochromatic collections, so you can up your style, without changing your hue.

Step 1: Choose a Color

Pick a color that you love and feel comfortable in. Red is a bold and exciting choice. When dressing in monochrome, be adventurous and don’t afraid to stand out.

Step 2: Vary the Shades

When wearing a monochromatic outfit, it’s important to vary the shades of the color you’re wearing. This will help add depth and dimension to your look.  In this all-green example, I mixed in different shades of green, such as forest or light green.

Step 3: Mix Textures

To add visual interest to your outfit, mix different textures. For example, pair a button up shirt with cargo pants and layer it with a knitted cardigan.

Step 4: Add Accessories

Accessories can be a great way to add a pop of color to a monochromatic outfit. Consider adding a brightly colored bag or statement jewelry to break up the monotony.

Step 5: Pay Attention to Fit

When wearing a monochromatic outfit, the fit of your clothing is especially important. Make sure everything fits well and flatters your body shape. This will help create a streamlined, polished look.
