If we could use one word to describe Springs trends it would be Playful. Brights abound, patterns play on everything from bucket hats to boots. But more than anything we are loving the return of hyper volume, seen on bubble skirts, puffy sleeves and ruched drop waist dresses and skirts. It all adds up to a cartoonish carnival, that you can turn up or down. Here we’ve collected our favorite playful silhouettes, layering jackets, bright bags, and fun skirts.
Playful Silhouettes
Like we said, volume…get ready to wear some pastry puffs. Keep the pairings simple, for instance a top with balloon sleeve will work just fine with a pair of boyfriend jeans. Same with cute frills, ruffles, and ruching, let the big piece be the hero and tone down the rest.
Candy-colored bags
Perfect to top off a monochromatic outfit or add a pop to your basics, bright bags come in every shape and style. Our bag color of the moment is lime green which we saw everywhere during New York Fashion Week.
Skirts that go to any lengths
Micro skirts aren’t going anywhere, but maxi, bubble, and voluminous silhouettes are just as important. They can be styled with a simple tee or, to emphasize volume of bubble skirts or drop waist, create contrast with a form-fitting bodysuit. Throw on an oversized blazer and some ballet flats and you’ve pretty much covered all of Springs best trends in one outfit.
